You do not need to train the way you did at twenty-five. Even moderate resistance work, two to three sessions per week, is enough to recruit new myonuclei and maintain the ones you already have.

Stand with your back against a wall and your feet about two feet away from it. Slide down until your thighs are roughly parallel to the floor, as if sitting in an invisible chair. Hold this position for as long as you can, aiming for twenty to thirty seconds to start.
Rest for thirty seconds, then repeat twice more. This sustained contraction under load is the kind of effort that recruits satellite cells and drives myonuclear accretion in the quadriceps, the largest muscle group in your body. Do this three times a week.
